The Motoplat VC-09ST was a unique, ground-breaking instrument, developed specifically for the Valeo ST series generators for testing and calibration. These modern, reversible start-stop generators are responsible not only for battery charging but also for engine starting, thus requiring complex diagnostics. The VC-09ST was the only known instrument on the market capable of reliable and fast diagnosis and adjustment of these special units.
This high-performance bench tester provided workshops with the ability to precisely calibrate the electronic signals of repaired reversible generators to the vehicle's ECU (Engine Control Unit), thereby guaranteeing flawless and fast engine starts.

Visual Diagnostics: The tester's display can show the signal generated by the Hall sensors (square wave) and the oscilloscope graph of the phase signals. By analyzing the intersection points of the two waveforms, the degree of correctness of the Hall sensors can be visually verified.
Efficiency Guarantee: If the Hall sensor position is correct, the reversible generator operates with 100% efficiency as a dynamo (AC generator), and in the same configuration, it operates with 100% efficiency as a starter motor (AC motor).

This unit operates as a battery charger when the engine stops and as a high-torque starter motor during startup.
The Motoplat VC-09ST was crucial in the repair process because, after mechanical refurbishment, the precise current position of the rotor needed to be provided to the control electronics (integrated into the generator or an external control box) for phase switching control. The visual feedback from the VC-09ST (the intersection points of the waveforms) ensured that service technicians could perform this critical adjustment perfectly, thereby avoiding subsequent performance issues or generator failure.
